Anyway, as we put the tree up...just up, mindja, not decorated yet, we needed to buy new lights *again*. I couldn't help but think about what it would be like to be cruising on a Norwegian ship during this festive holiday season.
For starters, I wouldn't have to decorate at all, but just take in the pleasure of looking at the beautiful décor. Because, let's face it, it's the end result most of us are looking for, not the actual work involved. (The same can be said for our Thanksgiving feasts, I guess.)
We did cruise once over the Christmas holiday and into the New Year when we went on a 15 day Hawaiian cruise out of LA. It was really very pretty, I must confess. However, with Norwegian's knack for going above and beyond for it's clientele, I can only imagine how amazing their decorations would be.
For ourselves this year, in celebration of our 25th (Silver) wedding anniversary, we're going with silver decorations throughout; with a few exceptions, like our Getaway and Epic ornaments. (Actually, our Epic ornament isn't exactly an ornament at all, rather the USB drive that looks like Epic that our photos came on. Hey, you make due with whatcha have, yanno?)
Nonetheless, cruising over the holidays is such a treat, it goes beyond description. Special Christmas shows in the theater, sing along caroling, Santa with the children's parade. It's just magical. And that was on a different cruise line, not Norwegian...again, I can't imagine just how special they make it!
This year as I decorate the tree and I hang my ship ornaments, I'll let my memories of Getaway and Epic take me over as I dream of future Norwegian cruises.
Happy decorating!
