We've just been introduced to our butler and our stateroom. He takes the time to show us the different features of the room and how to use them. He then asks if there is anything else we'll be needing. Finding champagne on ice and a small plate of finger sandwiches laid out for our service, we're beyond thrilled and we happily respond "no, thank you." and begin our escape.
Even docked, the view from the front top of the ship is spectacular and we can hardly imagine what it will be like when all there is to see before us is ocean and maybe a frolicking dolphin or a whale breaking water.
Our phones are off and our computers are at home. Three of our kids are taking care of each other and all the pets at home, heating up the lovely Easter meal I'd prepared before I left; and the fourth is at his Army base.
So for the first time in about a year we have absolutely no concerns. Nothing to worry ourselves about. We have today and today is the start of seven days dedicated to rebuilding our physical and emotional strength as we reconnect with who we are as Ray and Nancy again.
We know of all the activities on the ship, but this time there is no rush to do everything. Sure we'll play some bingo and do our fair share of time in the casino, but there is no reason to try to hit every event. We, however, wouldn't dream of missing BMG or Cirque, no way, no how. This is simply the cruise of a couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. That isn't I won't look at some things with the TAs eyes and file it away for future reference, but it won't be my sole focus.
We pre-arranged to have loungers out on our enclosed balcony and we take advantage of them as we sip our champagne and discuss our blessing of staying in such an exquisite suite on such an amazing ship. We each quietly take note of just how much these past couple of years have taken out of us and we know we have a lot of reserves to fill up. And we're starting the best way possible...lying side by side on loungers in our private enclosed balcony, heads back, eyes closed, holding hands...
